Laminate for Kennedale's Larger Floor Plans
Many Kennedale homes are on the large side. The median house here has 6.2 rooms, and about 38 percent have four or more bedrooms (American Community Survey, 2020 to 2024). The city's zoning also sets a 1,500 square foot minimum for houses in its agricultural district and its two largest-lot residential districts. When you are replacing carpet in four bedrooms, a hall and a game room at once, the cost of hardwood adds up fast, and that is where laminate earns its place.
Big jobs reward planning. We lay out the plank direction so it runs continuously through halls and doorways, then add transitions only where the maker's maximum run length calls for them. Before any planks go down, we take moisture readings across the slab, roll out a vapor barrier and correct high and low spots to the maker's tolerance. Homes from the 1990s and 2000s make up about a quarter of the city's housing, and some may still have their first bedroom carpet. Pulling it up can reveal old patches or adhesive that need scraping before laminate can float cleanly over the top.
